Chris first started his training in Wing Chun Kung Fu in 1997 having been first introduced to the martial arts by a friend who trained in Nam Pai Chuan 3 years earlier. He quickly became enthusiastic about the art due to it’s versatility and effectiveness. Chris was soon devoting 20 hours + per week to his training and his level improved rapidly. He had the honour of training with some of the best martial artists in the world.
His love of Wing Chun and his natural ability to teach others led to him being asked to open a class in Worthing, his home town.

Chris has had the privilege of training under Grand Master Keith Kernspecht who is the only private student of Great Grand Master Leung Ting who was chosen by Grand Master Ip Man (the last undisputed Grand Master of the Wing Chun system) to take over his mantle. One of the highlights of Chris’s Wing Chun journey was training with Great Grand Master Leung Ting when he visited the UK in 2001.
Chris has an infectious passion for seeing his students learn and develop. His background is in tennis coaching and he has also worked for the Youth Service and Worthing College. He maintains that anyone can learn Kung Fu and he has taught a wide variety of students with special needs. Chris is also very keen on giving back to the local community and volunteered for 15 years at a mentally handicapped group, Sussex Seals. He is also a committed Christian and regularly attends New Life Church in Durrington with his family where he helps to run the Sunday School.

Chris believes in the principles taught at Worthing & Arun Kung Fu Schools – honesty, integrity, modesty, courtesy, perseverance, self control, respect and self discipline. He and his team have worked hard to create an environment where students are welcomed and included whether they have been training for many years or only a few weeks. Together with his wife, Amanda and their children, Matthew and Rachel, Chris has developed a Kung Fu organisation that really does enjoy an inclusive family style culture where the progression and achievement of each student is of paramount importance.
