At Teach Me Kung Fu Schools, we believe that martial arts isn’t just about learning how to punch, kick, and defend — it’s about developing confidence, discipline, leadership, and character. From the moment a student steps onto the mat, we’re looking for more than physical skill — we’re nurturing positive traits that will serve them for life.

As our students train, instructors keep an eye out for qualities that stand out: focus, perseverance, kindness, teamwork, and the willingness to help others. These are the hallmarks of a true martial artist — and the traits we look for when selecting members for our STORM team (Special Team Of Role Models).
STORM members are more than just great students; they’re emerging leaders. Nominated by their peers and approved by our instructors, they’ve shown maturity, respect, and a natural ability to inspire others.

Once selected, STORM members begin to give back by assisting in classes with younger or less experienced students. They might help demonstrate techniques, hold pads, or support instructors during drills. This hands-on experience builds communication skills, empathy, and leadership — all while deepening their own understanding of kung fu.
STORM team members also attend dedicated development sessions four times a year, where they explore topics such as teamwork, communication, motivation, and behaviour management — key skills that prepare them for future instructor roles.
As they grow in confidence and ability, some STORM members are invited to take the next step and apply for our Junior Apprentice programme. This is a paid role for students aged 14 or over who have shown exceptional talent in assisting and connecting with younger students. Junior Apprentices take on more responsibility in classes and gain valuable work experience — all while continuing their own training.

The pathway doesn’t stop there. Junior Apprentices can go on to apply for positions as full instructors, continuing through our structured training programme that includes both soft skills and technical training. Each stage — from Learning Support Assistant to Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Instructor — builds on the last, ensuring our teaching team is well-rounded, capable, and committed to excellence.
Through this development journey, we’ve seen incredible transformations. Students who once stood shyly at the back of the class become confident leaders, mentors, and role models — not only in kung fu, but in school, work, and life.
At Teach Me Kung Fu, we don’t just train martial artists — we grow future leaders.
